Dr. Jonathan Leef

I am a registered Psychologist in Supervised Practice under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Weiss, and a Research Associate in the Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Lab. I completed my doctoral training in the School and Clinical Child Psychology Program (SCCP) at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), and acquired further clinical and research training through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), the Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, and the Toronto District School Board. My research and clinical interests have focused on children's social-cognitive development, gender identity development, and sexuality, with particular attention to the experiences of autistic people and their families.

I am the lab coordinator for Dr. Weiss's lab. Being a part of this research lab has provided me with many opportunities to develop my clinical and research skills. I enjoy exploring psychosocial factors influencing mental health and wellbeing of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families. I'm also interested in implementing and evaluating evidence-based programs, like SAS:OR, in the community.

I’m a research assistant in Dr. Weiss’ lab. I have always been passionate about exploring the factors influencing emotion regulation in children with neurodevelopmental disabilities, investigating parental involvement in youths’ mental health treatments, as well as developing my clinical skills.

Caroline Summers

I'm a research assistant in Dr. Weiss' lab. I enjoy working with children and youth in clinical and research settings. My research interests include mental health issues in children with autism and their impact on families.

Julia Martini

Julia Martini

I'm a research assistant in Dr. Weiss' lab. My current research interests include exploring the factors that influence emotion regulation development in children with developmental disabilities. I am also interested in program evaluation that focuses on increasing strengths and that incorporates the perspectives and experiences of those with developmental disabilities and their families.

Mishele Kaplan

I'm a research assistant in Dr. Weiss' lab. I have a variety of research interests pertaining to clinical and social psychology, with a primary focus on developmental disabilities and their impact on family dynamics.
